Dear North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce Member,

The Board of Directors and the Staff of the North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank you for your support of our organization. Our membership has been the vital organ that has kept this organization alive for 65 years. It is only through our membership and our membership’s commitment to the North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce that we have been able to serve our communities and our local businesses.

It is with great sadness that we are announcing that the North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce is dissolving, effective immediately.

This was not an easy decision for the Board of Directors. However, we were faced with a hard financial reality. For the past few years, this organization, like so many other businesses in our communities, struggled with producing enough revenue to cover our operations. The Board of Directors made numerous attempts to increase memberships, reorganize events, and provide the best programs to produce enough income for the Chamber. However, revenues have continued to decline thereby reducing, and eventually precluding, the Chamber’s ability to operate and serve our members.

Since 1948, the North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce has been a stalwart in the communities of Clear Lake Shores, Dickinson, Kemah, and League City. That, more than anything, is a testament to the passion and dedication to the business community exemplified by our members. We, as a Board, are proud to call you our friends, neighbors, and fellow business people.

As the Board of Directors move forward with this decision, we hope that you will be patient and understanding. We know that this is a significant change and affects many individuals and organizations both inside and outside the Chamber. Despite our dissolution, our passion for service to our community remains. As such, the Board has elected to honor the scholarships awarded to students in 2014.

Sincerely,

North Galveston County Board of Directors
